The
purpose of the course
will be to introduce the
learners to the issues
surrounding Managing
a Technical Service Centre.
Learners will enrol in
the part-time online course
for one month, which will
provide a conceptual platform
for learners, which helps
to introduce them to the
issues covered in the
course. This will comprise
activities, support resources,
links to other useful
web resources, and ongoing
email engagement with
online mentors and a community
of their peers. Continual
feedback will be provided
via email, while the course
environment will be designed
in such a way that it
is possible to monitor
the progress of participants
in the run up to a five
day face-to-face workshop.
Following the five day
hands on training session,
online interaction will
be continued for a further
two months.
Anyone
who has been through this
course, and who has been
assessed as competent
against the learning outcomes
and completed all 5 activities,
will be awarded with a
certificate of competency
that they are able to:
Understand,
and have the skills
and knowledge to implement
the range of activities
associated with establishing
and maintaining an effective
Technical Service Centre
The
links on the left will
explain how the course
will work, and the principles
upon which it has been
designed. Reading through
these texts will give
you a sense of what you
can expect, and what will
be expected of you. Please
don't hesitate to contact
your mentor or course
co-ordinator if you have
any questions or comments.
