African Teachers Network
The objective of this project is to conduct research on the variety of online professional development courses targeted at African teachers. The main purpose of the project is to ascertain the range of courses available and to evaluate experience with these online courses. The final objective is to provide guidelines on what constitutes a good teacher professional development course.
Objectives
- To lay the basis for a structured exchange of experiences among African teachers from different countries, with particular reference to the integration of ICTs in school education
- To ensure that a network is established to guide SNA in its creation of an African Education Knowledge Warehouse which will also be targeted at the broader layer of African teachers
- To facilitate digital opportunity for a growing number of African teachers by encouraging them to participate in global fora, thereby increasing African participation in global fora.
Vision and Mission
The vision for the African Teachers Network is to become a community of practice as highly qualified African facilitators of world class education in African classrooms.
The mission of the African Teachers Network is to establish an active network of teachers from a diverse variety of African schools which serves to strengthen the educational capacity of African educators through collaborative projects, promoting participation in global educator forums and educator professional development programs, thereby improving teaching practice within African schools.
