Registration procedure for ATN members

A new online registration process is available at the SNA Knowledge Warehouse at www.schoolnetafrica.net. The procedure for registration is as follows:

All ATN members should register at www.schoolnetafrica.net

  1. At the SchoolNet Africa Knowledge Warehouse Homepage click on English.
  2. Go to the Teachers Centre and click on Home.
  3. Click on Register.
  4. Type in your Username (Make sure there is no spacing in the names).
  5. Type in your E-mail address.
  6. There is an option for allowing people to view your E-mail address.
  7. Click in the space - I agree to be bound by the Website Terms of Use and Privacy.
  8. Click on New User. A password would be sent to the address you submitted.
  9. Check your mailbox for your password. If it isn't there check your bulk or junk folder whether you are using Yahoo or Hotmail in order to retrieve your password as the reply from the server may have been put in these folders by your mail filter system.
  10. Go back to step three. This time click on Login instead of Register.
  11. Enter your username and your password in the spaces provided.
  12. Make sure you have entered the username and password correctly and click on Login.
  13. If it doesn't work, try copy and paste the username and password and try again. And if it still doesn't work, please contact Hillar at h.addo@schoolnetafrica.org for assistance.
  14. Once connected, click on Change your info to fill in your details. Make sure you change your password to something more easier to remember, but avoid using your name or names of your relatives or your birth date. Rather think of a combination of letters and numbers.
  15. Click on Save Changes to save you information to the database.

Registration Imperatives

  1. All ATN members should register on the new database to consider themselves members of the Network.

  3. A verification and recording process would need to be done by national coordinators (Core members).
  4. Validation of membership would be done by the ATN Technical Coordinator.
  5. Please send feedback in case of any technical problems to Dr. Hillar Addo at h.addo@schoolnetafrica.org.

iEARN conference in Japan.

ATN members were encouraged to attend the iearn conference www.iearn.org in Japan in view of its importance to them. Any available funding from the SNA secretariat would be made to new core members.

ATN experiencesMembers shared their experiences of ATN activities in their various countries. Many had recruited members at national teachers' ICT meetings that they were privileged to attend and address. Though some did not feel welcomed at their National Education Service Directorates, the objectives of the ATN had been brought to many teachers in their countries.

Mr. Sounkalo Dembele is undertaking a two week training and familiarization tour of SchoolNet South Africa. This would equip him with knowledge and skills and empower him to address the challenges of School networking in Mali. Sounkalo’s trip is the first in the ATN teacher exchange programme.
