MODULE 2: Locating Premises and Establishing your Centre

What you need to do

Activity 3

The International donor agency has decided to donate the 500 PCs to your organization. They are on their way to you and it is now time to start networking amongst the relevant stakeholders in your country (in government, education, telecommunications etc) in order to create important relationships which will assist in getting your organization up and running.

You must:

  1. Identify and list the key stakeholders in your country
  2. Write a letter to the key stakeholders in your country introducing yourself and your organization, and explain:
    the concept of refurbished computers
the concept of technical service centres
    the vision of your centre
  3. Give 2 options for a physical site where you could locate your centre

To assist you in your response, we have prepared activity templates in Microsoft Word that you can use to complete each part of your response. Once you have completed these documents, save them in an appropriate location on your computer.

Part 3

Attach your responses to an e-mail to your group of peers. Add any comments in the mail that you think are necessary to explain further the submission you have prepared. When you have completed your mail, send it to the group. Click here to send an e-mail to the group with your response to this activity.

At this time, you should start receiving the responses of other members of the group. When you look through these responses, you might like to consider the following questions: How does this compare with what you did? Are there aspects of what others did that you think you could have incorporated in your documents? If so, why? Your online mentor will also ask you further questions based on the inputs from the group. At any point, you can share any of your responses to these questions or any other observations with the rest of the group, either by pressing the Reply button on the e-mail or by clicking on this link (Share further comments on activity three with the group).
