MODULE 3: Distributing the PCs

What you need to do

Activity 4

(For this activity, we are going to assume that the computers have been refurbished and are ready to be installed in the schools and other institutions. The refurbishment section of the course will be covered during the 5 day hands-on training workshop)

Prepare:

  1. an application form and
  2. a document detailing the terms and conditions of your service

You must:

  1. Produce an application form for potential customers

    • covering all important information and requirements that you need from your customers including customer demographics (name of centre, address etc), physical location requirements (room security and safety etc), staffing and training needs

  2. Produce an agreement detailing the terms and conditions of your service

    • introducing the concept of refurbished computers
    • introducing the concept of technical service centres (these can be tailored from Activity 3 where you introduced these concepts to stakeholders)
    • describe the services provided by the refurbished computer centre
    • outline the responsibility of the user ie. Guidelines as to what is expected from the customer (including environmentally friendly ways of disposing of IT equipment at end-of-life – refer to module 5 for this information)

To assist you with your response, we have prepared templates for both parts of this activity.

Activity 4
Part 2

Save your responses to both parts of the activity on your computer and attach them to your e-mail to your group of peers. Click here to send an e-mail to the group with your response to this activity. Add any comments in the mail that you think are necessary to explain further the submission you have prepared. When you have completed your mail, send it to the group.

When you look through the responses of your peers to this activity, you might like to consider the following questions: How similar are other people's submissions to your own? Where there are differences, why do you think this is the case? What do you think is missing from other people's submissions? Your online mentor will also ask you further questions based on the inputs from the group. At any point, you can share any of your observations with the rest of the group, either by pressing the Reply button on the e-mail or by clicking on this link (Share further comments on activity four with the group).
